It's definitely a sad situation... the "branch of the large Danish bank"
undoubtedly has a nice ECM-supporting, possibly V.34-Fax-supporting, fax
machine (it certainly supports hyperfine resolution) ... but the T.38
between you and them strips all those niceties away. It could even be
the carrier/telco.
