The limitation is on your side, not the remote side.


Try configuring the modem in Class 1.0, if it supports it (faxaddmodem will present you with your choices). This should enable V.34 support for speeds greater than 14,400. Presently with Class 1 you're limited to 14.4. I wasn't sure how modern your USR modem was ;-)
