yes unfortunately most old modems are already out of the stores, so ebay is a good one, but since I can't ask them if it support linux cuz probably they dont even know what I am smoking. I will need some knowledge of which brand and model I am looking for. I have been to linmodem's database still will is pretty helpful when the people here mention their modem/model they are using.

I will suggest you to get some cheap cheap hardware modem. The only
winmodem works on the BSD is Lucent WinModem. I know conexant will be
working fine under linux. But....

Check the ebay or your local computer store to find some really old
modem. Even the external one. 14.4kbps is way enough to support the fax.
