Re: [hylafax-users] REJECT: Too many attempts

First of all, Thank you very much for the detailed reply !
I'm not using JobControl. The config.tty* setup is as detailed in my older message to the mailing list, as is my sendfax command line.
Yet, on some occasions I get the message "REJECT: Too many attempts to transmit: 3, max 3" - Even when faxstat -s shows its going to try 6 times, it quits after 3 times,
And I have no idea where did it take the "3" from, or why.

I have some users that want the fax to be attempted 6 times, And I cant seem to make it work that way.

Thanks.

Eliran,

The error message "REJECT: Too many attempts to transmit" only ever occurs when the number of tries (which is an outbound call that handshakes with fax, but does not complete the job for some reason) exceeds the smaller of the MaxTries value in the sendq file or an analogous setting in a JobControl configuration.

Given that your sendq file has "maxtries:6" in it, I must therefore conclude that if you really are getting "REJECT: Too many attempts to transmit" that you must have a JobControl configuration which is interfering with your interests.

If you are not getting "REJECT: Too many attempts to transmit" (as your initial report indicated) then what I have written is irrelevant.

Be aware that many people have been misled by the fact that consecutive "No carrier" results to a destination that has not been "called before" (in this case meaning handshaking succeeded), will ignore the "NoCarrierRetrys" or "JobRetryNoCarrier" setting and will be terminated after two or three "No carrier" attempts.  This is a hard-coded configuration that intends to prevent numerous fax calls going to mis-dialed voice lines.  In other words, NoCarrierRetrys/JobRetryNoCarrier only has an effect when the destination has been "called before".

Thanks,

Lee.

Thanks, But I already had these in my config.* files, But it

This is what I currently have :
       JobReqBusy: 30

       JobReqNoCarrier: 30
       JobReqNoFCon: 30
       JobReqOther: 30

       MaxDials:6

It keeps "rejecting" some jobs after 3 attempts.

So how are you submitting the jobs?  And what does the sendq file
