I know nothing about mysql/postfix so I can not assist you in this area. 
The only thing I can surmise from your last is that /etc/postfix/virtual 
might be an alias file.  You could look at it and, if it does appear like 
other alias files, add the pipe alias to it.

Other than that probably useless thought, I'm out of suggestions....
