No, not really... not like we can when sending faxes and examining the 
receiver's NSF signal.  We have TSI, DCS, and maybe Caller*ID to 
identify the caller... but that doesn't give us an indication as to what 
equipment they're using.

Some fax machines have certain kinds of fingerprints with how they 
handle various portions of fax protocol that can be noticed by the Class 
1 driver... however, when I tried to apply that fingerprinting approach 
to a large-scale production usage it revealed that the fingerprinting 
correlations are very weak... and thus quite useless.

Info file usage as a receiver was just recently implemented in HylaFAX+ 
(5.1.8) with CallIDType "calling-number" support.  This feature requires 
you to have Caller*ID support on your modem and on your phone line.  The 
purpose in putting it there was for the senderHasV17Trouble and 
senderSkipsV29 features.  But this isn't going to help you in your 
persuit of sender's hardware make/model identification.

You may want to examine the CallIDType "calling-number" feature to see 
if maybe it could be extended in a manner that would assist you.
