I have no idea.  But let's figure out what is the matter.  In your 
/var/spool/hylafax/etc/config file set ServerTracing to 0xFFF and then 
reproduce the problem.  Then look at your syslog (/var/log/messages) and 
look for the call to "bin/notify ...".  Then cd to /var/spool/hylafax 
and run that same exact command except prefix it with "sh -x" like this:

 # cd /var/spool/hylafax
 # sh -x bin/notify ... ... ...

And send me that output.  It may be large so you may not want to bother 
the list with it.
