Then I upgraded to 5.0.3 to see if this would would the problems, but the same behavior was observed (again in class 2.1 mode). So then I went back to 4.3.0 where at least the conversion to 2-D MMR was functioning (again in class 2.1 mode) but ECM was not. While using 4.3.0, I decided to try class 1.0 since class 1.0 bypasses the modem firmware The included log file represents that attempt. But now I'm back to using 5.0.3. > > > > It's behaving exactly as if you've disabled ECM... either by request in > the fax job or somewhere in the configuration. > How does one explicitly enable ECM? In my sendfax.conf file, I have: DesiredEC: 2 This should enable ECM. To disable ECM, this would be set to zero. > Examine the sendq file before the job completes. At the very beginning of a transmission, just after the dialing tones, the sendq/q* files shows: desiredec:0 But, unless I am mistaken, I do not disable ECM in any way. No "-E" is used and the sendfax.conf is as above. But using 5.0.3, the doneq/q* file also shows: dataformat: 1-D MH With 4.3.0, sending the same fax, this is: dataformat: 2-D MR That is the other problem that seems to have arisen with 4.3.1 and 5.0.3. Before a new install I completely remove the old one, including any symbolic links.
