What a trouble over one RPM... :-)
Well, 2 forks are better than one. ;-)
All is GPL'd anyway, so if either of you contribues something good in
the code it can be included in both future releases for mutual good.

I think that you shouldn't fuss about it.
Copyright of your part of the code is always included in both distro's.
