Thank you. I can pretty safely say that that modem is a GVC 14.4
modem.

I'm kind of suspicious of the output, though. For comparison, here's the
output from a GVC 28.8 ATI command set.

Notice the carriage returns in responses. Dunno if that will matter to
HylaFAX or not. However, it is most definitely class 1 and 2 capable. In
fact all GVC modems that were class 2 capable were class 1 capable.

will help.
