Inside the faxmail script, there should be a call to textfmt, which
turns the mail text into a PS file that can be (in turn) imaged into a
TIFF-F that you can actually send.

textfmt will either be being *supplied* with margin setting options, or
will be using it's defaults.  So you'll need to change them, or add
them.  I can't off hand find the script... but read the faxmail manpage
thoroughly, and try 

  $ locate faxmail

You can set the default margins, apparently, in the configuration file.
