Can't imagine why...  your posting does a better than average job
answering all the usual questions...

Hmmm... the problem you describe is sort of weird.

My first suggestion is that there was something funky with that
release, and I thought I heard that someone was working on fixing the
RPM problem; you might want to take a day or two off and de-stress, and
retry with that new RPM file.
