[hylafax-users] Fresh system admin needs help - RH 6.2 + Hylafax-4.1beta2-8rh6.i386.rpm

Hi,

Beeing new in this area, I found that Hylafax offers a good mail-to-fax gateway, so I decided to give it a try. But after 2 weeks of intensive trying it is giving me a terrible headache... and am close to giving up ! I've got some bad expierences with this kind of mailing lists (people have a tendens on not taking me serious :-( ), but hope that somebody kan help me on getting this up and running.

According to what I found in the howto section, I made shure that all required rpm's are installed, that is :

• libtiff-3.5.5-2.i386.rpm
• ghostscript-5.50-1.i386.rpm
• libgr-devel-2.0.13-23.i386.rpm

Then I installed hylafax-4.1beta2-8rh6.i386.rpm, but the installation gets
aborted. Since there was no clear error message on the screen, I tried
rpm -e hyla... but got he message ... is not installed. The I tried to
install the source version. While running ./configure I got the error that
it couldn't find a correct tiff library.

I did some reading in the archives, and found several referals to conflicts with v3.4 and 3.5. However, i tried to downgrade to version 3.4, with the same results. I then removed the hylafax directory (aborted source installation) and tried the rpm again. Here I now got the error that the package was allready installed. But a rpm -q told me that it isn't installed...

As you can see, I'm going in circles, round and round and round !!!

I hope to get some help from the Hylafax team, or from anybody else on the list. Hope to hear from you soon.
