I vote that we hunt down whatever list archive posting pointed you in that direction and have a ritual burning of it. Honestly, you could not have a worse combination that USR and USB. I recommend a Mainpine board or, if budget does not permit that then a Multitech external serial modem. What if you run probemodem and manually set the speed?
