Thanks for you valuable information. I'll look at the man pages for sure.
I wish I could afford a consultant. I'm basically unemployed and trying to
learn something new in the mean time.

BTW, I was finally able to run faxaddmodem in part with the help from all of
you.

init(8C) refers to the man page for init which is in Section 8c of
/usr/man/*.

init.d is a directory.

Since you ask so many basic questions, perhaps you need to employ a Unix
consultant to learn more about your machine.

Did you ever run faxaddmodem, BTW?
