That's a two-stage reference to CallIDPattern :-) Referencing the keyword 
directly from the DynamicConfig section would've saved me plenty of effort.

These should be processed by a regular expression: NMBR\s*=\s* would catch all 
known modems, for example...

The special spell needed to turn the CallerID-reporting on in the modem was 
also mentioned nowhere, BTW.

Why not have these always enabled? Even if modem reports an error to AT+VCID, 
just ignore it...

At the top of my config.ttyd0 it says:

	# Configuration for a Rockwell RC288DPi-based Class 1 modem

the actual model of the modem is: ROCKWELL RC288DPi/V2.081-03-K56_2M_DLS 
SupraExpress 56e - PC V.90.
