With Lee's help, I've discovered that Hylafax was using ECM to communicate with my asterisk server whereas the canon was using G3. When disabling ECM, I am able to send short faxes (like a small text file) to asterisk, but longer PDF's seem to fail. (Asterisk rxfax sends DCN command and hylafax reports that it disconnects prematurely) Apr 24 09:18:49.96: [30718]: <-- data [1028] Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: <-- data [1025] Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: <-- data [311] Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: SENT 24885 bytes of data Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: SEND 2D RTC Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: <-- data [30] Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: <-- data [2] Apr 24 09:18:51.96: [30718]: SEND end page Apr 24 09:19:01.02: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:01.02: [30718]: <-- [9:AT+FTS=9\r] Apr 24 09:19:01.03: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:01.03: [30718]: SEND send EOP (no more pages or documents) Apr 24 09:19:01.03: [30718]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r] Apr 24 09:19:01.08: [30718]: --> [7:CONNECT] Apr 24 09:19:01.08: [30718]: <-- data [3] Apr 24 09:19:01.08: [30718]: <-- data [2] Apr 24 09:19:02.39: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:02.39: [30718]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r] Apr 24 09:19:02.78: [30718]: --> [7:CONNECT] Apr 24 09:19:03.68: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:03.68: [30718]: SEND recv DCN (disconnect) Apr 24 09:19:03.68: [30718]: Remote fax disconnected prematurely Apr 24 09:19:03.69: [30718]: <-- [9:AT+FRS=7\r] Apr 24 09:19:03.70: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:03.70: [30718]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r] Apr 24 09:19:03.74: [30718]: --> [7:CONNECT] Apr 24 09:19:03.74: [30718]: <-- data [3] Apr 24 09:19:03.74: [30718]: <-- data [2] Apr 24 09:19:05.06: [30718]: --> [2:OK] Apr 24 09:19:05.06: [30718]: SEND FAILED: JOB 13 DEST XXXXXXXXXX ERR [333] Remote fax disconnected prematurely; $ Apr 24 09:19:06.06: [30718]: <-- [5:ATH0\r] Apr 24 09:19:06.16: [30718]: --> [10:NO CARRIER] Apr 24 09:19:06.16: [30718]: MODEM No carrier Apr 24 09:19:06.16: [30718]: SESSION END I think I'll give up with rxfax! Are you certain of *never*? Since you compare/contrast this first Asterisk system with another Asterisk system using HylaFAX+iaxmodem I assume, therefore, that the first system is using txfax/rxfax. It doesn't likely have anything to do with scanline time. I'm going to guess that the problem has something to do with Asterisk itself, the setup or configuration, or because VoIP is involved somehow, and you're using a VoIP channel to run the fax audio over.
