Thanks for your reply.

/var/spool/hylafax/log$ sudo chmod a+rw seqf

will fix the problem.

On our Ubuntu 6.06.1 system, Hylafax seems to create the outgoing logs 
and seqf as root while capi4hylafax's faxrecv works as uucp. That's why 
it cannot access the real seqf and tries to correct this error by 
finding a unused jobnumber by itself. This search stops at the number 1000.
