Hi Michael,

Given that USR support is poor and you are going to have lots of issues with
fax compatibility with a USR modem (search the mail archives) then maybe
it's time to get a modem based on an Agere Venus or CFAX chipset.

2. D/ringing is working. I plugged a phone in to the line and listened to
the 
ringing when I called it.
