It's not as bad, usually, as it may sound. T.30 makes it clear that the
sender is supposed to call in and wait to hear NSF/CSI/DIS signalling
from the receiver... so proper silence detection isn't necessarily
required for either endpoint.
I tend to suspect this as well, this is when I see 1 or 2 consecutive
errors from the sender and then a successful fax after. Or sometimes 3
successful faxes where the first 2 get interupted. Either way a I am
more interested in the ones that connect 20 times and fail 20 times.
I would ignore all of the details that I said before and simply try both
incantations of the config file (with and without the Class1SwitchingCmd
change)... see what you can figure out about how things work or don't
work with various senders based on that configuration.
I keep that extra option, it did decrease the amount of errors. I
noticed also that some of the errors that I see in the log directory
do not get reported as an emil to FaxMaster. This is pretty important
to me as I can make some sense out of these errors. Such as I scan the
ALL the log files (using grep) to see how many times a certain TSI
sent me a fax sucessfuly and how many time they failed. I also log the
error type and date too (I don't think I get this kind of stats with
faxcron.) This helps me know that if a certain sender has previously
sent me a successful fax then I can ignore the logs where they got
Modem Command error or time outs, I can rule those out. But for the
ones that have a 100% rate of failure is the ones I can focus on.
Perhaps this can be put into faxcron at a future time ? :)
