I guess that the problem is related to the configuration: I use a line that is a PABX line, then the PABX manage the E1 connection to the real phone lines. I've found a parameter s108 in the S-Registry of my Multitech 5634ZPX that it has to be set to the value = 1 and not to the default value. But this doesn't fix all problems... I still receive errors related to time out or lost ack form te remote party. Does any one as the same configuration (faxmodem <---> pabx <---> PSTN-E1) and no problems?
