Re: [hylafax-users] Wedged modem

Ok, now I'm totally lost. How do I run faxgetty from inittab? It always run as a daemon spawned from the init.d/hylafax script, that's the default behavior for the debian package..

I'm not quite sure what you mean.. faxgetty runs whenever I start hylafax from /etc/init.d/hylafax start (actually, it's always running).

Just take a read through 'man wedged'.

http://hylafax.sourceforge.net/man/wedged.php

If you're running faxgetty from inittab, then after the modem becomes wedged it exits and init respawns it (if you configure it there as usual). So it would then re-attempt an initialization and eventually, when you got around to power-cycling the modem, the modem would get back to normal.
