This kind of thing happens frequently to PDFs when they're e-mailed and the sending MUA mistakenly uses "quoted-printable" for the MIME type.

Adobe generally faults the PDF creator in those cases. However, you could also fault the sending MUA.

Generally speaking, though, I think that this problem only surfaces with cross-platform communications - mail that goes from Windows to Linux. I think that the decoding still comes out right if it goes Windows-to-Windows.

Hum, they were PDF that I got from Oracle web site, but I tried with a PDF created in house and with embedded fonts, it works. So now I have a functionnal Hylafax server on Mac OS X 10.3 :-)
