Hi!

Thank you for your reply. I'm not confident that I
really understand what you are asking, but here's the
configuration I was using that causes the Internet
dial-up conflict.
* My modem: /dev/modem -> /dev/ttyS2
* My Internet dialer (kppp) uses: /dev/modem
* /etc/inittab says (among other things):
  mo:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/faxgetty ttyS2

I don't know if this is helpful or not. Any ideas?
