In this case, it should read the "config/skel" file for settings first, then the "config/class1" or "config/class2" or "config/class2.0" and ask you to double check a bunch of settings by hand. If you want to set up a config file specifically for that brand of modem, run "probemodem" and check the "ATI0" and "ATI3" outputs, then edit a copy of one of the other config files to use it. For example, for a PPI 14.4 modem, the key line in the config/ppi-pm14400fxmt file is this: # CONFIG: CLASS2: *PM14400FXMT*-* # CONFIG: CLASS2: *PM28800FXMT*-* This says "gee, any modems that respond with the PM14400FXMT or PM28800FXMT and runs CLASS2 should use this file". Alternatively, for a class 1 modem, you get something like this for the cheesey little Performance modem I have: # CONFIG:CLASS1:33600:.*:DEFAULT: Manufacturer=Performance Model=33600 Then sorting out the specific values depends on what your site needs. If you get them sorted out, please publish them!!! It's very helpful for us for the next person with your brand of modem. Nico Kadel-Garcia Senior Engineer, CIRL Mass.
