Faxgetty not dropping DTR on Linux

I just installed the precompiled version of Flexfax (filename
hylafax-4.0pl2-3rh5.i386.rpm) along with the associated ghostscript
"stuff".

O/S - Redhat Linux 5.2 with 2.2.5 kernel
Serial board PC/8e (Digiboard)

The Fax software seems to work with no problems for sending and receiving,
it even prints via samba to a '95 machine.

I however do have 1 minor problem in that upon completion of an inbound
call, I am unable to drop DTR to hangup the modem. I have checked the
following:

1. The modem (MultiTech MT2834BA) is not ignoring DTR (it worked with
the original getty). The DTR light does not go off, but if I restart
the machine or pull the serial cable, the DTR (according to the modem)
goes low.

2. DTR would go low when I was using "uugetty"

3. ttyD1 is equivalent to ttyS1

4. DTR stays high even after killing faxgetty

5. If the remote drops carrier, everything resets fine for the next call
and I lower DTR in the process, but only if the remote hangs up.

6. according to the logs (attached) faxgetty believes it is lowering DTR

7. I am using a nonstandard baudrate of "115200" which Linux accepts.

8. Modem was set to ignore "+++" but was tried both ways

9. I took the default config file that was generated for the modem and &D3
is set (reset upon DTR loss)

Thanks for any help...

Jeff
