After these problems compiling under gcc-2.8.1, I reverted to gcc-2.7.2.3, and a clean copy of the hylafax-v4.0pl2 source again, and it built, installed and worked fine. I don't want to confuse things with a different problem, but the main reason I upgraded to hylafax-v4.0pl2 was because I was hoping it might possibly solve a strange problem I've been having with hylafax-v4.0pl1. The problem I'm having with both hylafax-v4.0pl2 and hylafax-v4.0pl1 is that at the end of an unsuccessful fax transmission due to no answer from the remote end, the modem communication gets screwed up: Jul 22 17:28:05.75: [25596]: <-- [31:AT+FLID="Mark G.
