Many (most) modems take the ``AT&D3'' setting to mean do a reset when DTR
drops (same as ATZ). We use only MultiTechs, and they all handle it this
way. I have this in my config files which (if I remember correctly since I
haven't looked at this in years) also sets the time it takes to recognize
this. I found this latter necessary on SCO Unix systems, but I don't
remember exactly what it fixed and my modem manuals are somewhere in
packing boxes after our last move.
ModemSetupDTRCmd: AT&D3S25=2
I also save this in the modem configuration so it should be there by
default as well.
