The problem displayed in your setup is that hfaxd doesn't listen on any TCP port. I don't know how this might happens, but lsof does show this behaviour. I did ask you to issue this command, but I couldn't find if you did it: # getent services hylafax hylafax 4559/tcp As you can see, on my system, the "hylafax" port is tcp/4559, so I wonder what is that settings in your system. Still, whatever port it "hylafax" is, hfaxd does not bind to any port, so it could be worth to better check what it does. Could you also issue this command while hylafax is stopped? # /usr/sbin/hfaxd -i hylafax -d does it show any error? Does faxstat work when hfaxd is started this way? Does it change if run the hfaxd command as user "uucp"? And, could you post any customizations you might have done in /var/spool/hylafax/etc/hfaxd.conf ? Do you have any LogFacility and ServerTracing settings in that file? Could you check what logging was done by hfaxd according to these settings? Could you increase ServerTracing and try again?
