/usr/bin/gs is normally an executable file (the GhostScript program) not a directory.

/gs is different from /usr/bin/gs
I think you should learn some basics about Linux or get some help.


Do you need some specific features of hylafax+?
If not I recommend to install the pre-packaged standard hylafax available from your normal Ubuntu package sources instead of compiling from sources.
