What is the best way to test a Hylafax based system to determine why some inbound faxes are failing to come through?

Examine the logs. And if you don't know what the logs say then post them to this list so that I can explain them.

Of course, it's a little difficult when multiple field reps are claiming to not be able to fax their reports in--yet can always get them faxed in when using an online hosted fax service.

We've seen where for sending faxes, needed to turn off error correction to make faxes work reliably. But, can this be forced by Hylafax in the act of receiving a fax? Or, is this not the solution?

If disabling ECM allows a fax to get through then it either indicates a bug in the ECM code being used or that there is line noise of such poor quality and of a unique character that will interfere with ECM but will allow the image data to get through legibly.

You can always disable ECM permanently. But it's the wrong thing to do, IMO.

Thanks,

Lee.
