Re: [hylafax-users] Problems with faxgetty
Siri,
Thanks for that! You fixed my problem. I didn't have
unique identifers for each instance of faxgetty.
Roeland.
when you have multiple faxgetty entries in inittab they must have the
appropriate ttys and also have unique identifiers (first part of the line, left
of the first colon), like so:
m1:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS4
m2:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS5
m3:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS6
m4:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS7
m5:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS8
m6:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS9
m7:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty
/dev/ttyS10
m8:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty /dev/ttyS11
then
you need to tell init to reload the file:
/sbin/telinit q

Hi,
I have Hylafax 5.2.8 running on an
opensuse 11.0 server. I did have v4.4.0 running on the server, but decided to
upgrade after problems (faxes getting stuck in the send queue). I had to bodge
the 5.2.8 installation (installed using a rpm) to get it to run (mainly
permissions & ownership issues).
I have managed to send faxes using the
new version (don't need to receive), but I have 2 problems:
1. I don't know whether faxq is using
faxgetty for modem status, etc. faxgetty is running, however during the
sending of a fax, the fax status is not updated i.e. it always says 'Running
and idle'.
2. I have added a second modem (and will
add 3 more soon as I've got these issues sorted), put an additional line in
inittab to start faxgetty on the 2nd modem, however, this instance of faxgetty
does not start. faxstat brings up both modems' status however.
My questions are:
1. How can I find out whether faxq is
using faxgetty for modem status? If it is not, how can I get faxq to use
faxgetty?
2. How can I get faxgetty to start on the
2nd modem? I presume it may be file permissions and/or ownership issues, but
I'm unsure which files I need to alter.
Many thanks,
Roeland.
