Re: [hylafax-users] Problems with faxgetty

Lee,

I uninstalled v4.4.0 before installing 5.2.8. 4.4.0 was included as part
of the distro.
The 5.2.8 installation was problematic. Despite getting the rpm from the
opensuse repository for opensuse 11, there were problems. The user the
fax processes was running under was changed from 'fax' to 'uucp' which
caused problems with the ownership of some files. Some files were in
different places as well.

However, Siri helped me with the other problem (the starting of faxgetty
in inittab), so now I have all the modems running faxgetty.

I have added the other modems, and it looks like their status is getting
updated.

It looks like its all working. Now for the testing!

Thanks for your help.

So did you uninstall 4.4.0 before installing 5.2.8? Was your 4.4.0
installation done via RPM as well?

Sounds like the installation was problematic.

1. faxq and faxgetty should "just work" together. There shouldn't be
anything for you to do to get it working.

2. How are you starting the first faxgetty? How are you trying to start
the second?

Thanks,

Lee.
