Sounds complicated.  I use psmark to draw text I want and it works.
psmark may download from here:
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/psmark.htm

Do not confused by the page title: "PsMark for Windows".  My first
impression was it is for windows only.  Just download the sources and
run make in Linux and it will compile well.
