Hello,

In fact, the Hylafax server has been chosen to replace an RTEFAX server
configured by someone else than me.

If I remove the RNIS card from the Hylafax server and intall it inside the
RTEfax server, everything works well, even with the hardware fax machines
which are behind a PBX.

So I know that the problem comes from my Hylafax server.

In addition, it seems that this problem happens with all fax machines behind
a PBX, from different companies, not a particular one.

But there's nothing in the logs, so i think maybe the problem is not
hylafax-related but capi4hylafax-related or maybe related to the isdn modem
parameters.

In the good old days a FAX machine behind a PBX sued to work pretty 
well. If the PBX was connected to the PSTN by a digital trunk it used to 
be rock solid. These days a lot of PBXes are things like Asterisk boxes, 
and FAXing can be very hit or miss. They may have timing problems in 
their PSTN trunk setup. There may be some low bit rate codecs involved 
in the path between their FAX machine and you. Unless things have seen 
set up by someone competent, don't expect too much.

That said, you can easily check if the problem truly lies in the remote 
user's PBX setup by asking them to FAX to and from some other location. 
You'll probably find that works as poorly as FAXing to and from you.
