NO. You will only get 14k speed with faxing over a telephone line. You
get even less using internet access dialup. While a modem may be
specified 56k you'll very rarely get that - i used a 28k for a long
while and never got anything to approach that.

As i said before just use a serial modem and it'll all work 'just plug
in' without you having to do another thing.
