anything that would let you do this. I guess HylaFAX could routinely
take the modem off-hook to see if there is a dialtone, though, and then
report it somehow... but that seems odd to need to do.
Are you using ATX3 and thus disabling the ability to detect dialtone?
Otherwise the modem should check for dialtone and you should be able to
see that there is no dialtone based on the various job failure messages.
