HylaFAX The world's most advanced open source fax server |
Hi Patrick, You will be unable to get either the Agere WinModem or the USR 'hardware' modem working reliably. Despite what you may have been told, USR do not make 'hardware' PCI modems and therefore you will have the same problems as the WinModem. My advice is to get a true hardware modem based on the Agere Venus chipset. Alternatively, if this is an installation then invest in a Mainpine IQ Express fax board; http://www.mainpine.com/products_IQE.php Regards Andrew Rinaldi Mainpine Developer Support USA +1 503 822 9944 | UK +44 8458 909438 andrew.rinaldi@xxxxxxxxxxxx | www.mainpine.com -----Original Message----- From: hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Patrick M. I have an internal Agere 56k WinModem using the martian drivers. When sending a fax to this machine, the fax machine responds with an error of "No Answer". When I tail /etc/hylafax/log/c000000009 I see this: Dec 21 13:07:24.04: [ 3856]: SESSION BEGIN 000000009 14086811528 Dec 21 13:07:24.04: [ 3856]: HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.3.3 Dec 21 13:07:24.04: [ 3856]: <-- [4:ATA\r] Dec 21 13:07:29.93: [ 3856]: --> [7:CONNECT] Dec 21 13:07:29.93: [ 3856]: ANSWER: FAX CONNECTION DEVICE '/dev/ttySM0' Dec 21 13:07:29.93: [ 3856]: RECV FAX: begin Dec 21 13:07:29.93: [ 3856]: <-- data [32] Dec 21 13:07:29.93: [ 3856]: <-- data [2] Dec 21 13:07:29.94: [ 3856]: --> [7:CONNECT] Dec 21 13:07:29.94: [ 3856]: <-- data [23] Dec 21 13:07:29.94: [ 3856]: <-- data [2] Dec 21 13:07:29.95: [ 3856]: --> [7:CONNECT] Dec 21 13:07:29.95: [ 3856]: <-- data [13] Dec 21 13:07:29.95: [ 3856]: <-- data [2] Dec 21 13:07:32.17: [ 3856]: --> [2:OK] Dec 21 13:07:32.17: [ 3856]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r] Dec 21 13:07:32.24: [ 3856]: MODEM READ ERROR: errno 5 Dec 21 13:07:32.24: [ 3856]: --> [0:] Dec 21 13:07:32.24: [ 3856]: MODEM <Empty line> Dec 21 13:07:32.24: [ 3856]: DELAY 1500 ms Dec 21 13:07:33.74: [ 3856]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r] Dec 21 13:07:56.24: [ 3856]: MODEM WRITE ERROR: errno 5 Dec 21 13:07:56.24: [ 3856]: DELAY 1500 ms Dec 21 13:07:57.74: [ 3856]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r] Dec 21 13:08:08.24: [ 3856]: MODEM WRITE ERROR: errno 5 Dec 21 13:08:08.24: [ 3856]: RECV FAX: No answer (T.30 T1 timeout) My kernel sees the modem, and it looks like it tries to connect, then I get the write error. I was googling around and the only things I could find were people saying that I'm SOL. I'm planning on purchasing a US Robotics internal PCI hardware modem, but if possible I'd like to get the Agere working. Has anyone had luck with getting the Ageres to work properly in CentOS 5.1? Thanks in advance.
