Re: [hylafax-users] Failed Faxes - failure to train remote modem at 2400 bps

... short update. Took the same USR modem and hooked it up to the serial port on a Windows XP machine. Faxed to the same fax # that Hylafax was failing to train, and it went through on the first attempt.

This seems to rule out the modem (hardware) and points to commands in the Hylafax config.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thank you.

What kind of device is ttyc16? Sure, the modem is a USR. But what device is the serial device (serial port) on ttyc16?

The receiver is constantly responding with FTT to your training signals... so either there is some kind of audio corruption going on between your modem and the receiver, or there is an incompatibility between your modem and the receiver. (I guess there's also a possibility that something is just plain wrong with your modem or the receiver.)

The fact that the session went through both V.29 and V.27ter leads me to believe that it's not likely an incompatibility (because it would be an incompatibility on both modem protocols... which is significantly less likely to be the case). Most likely there is some audio problem between you and them.

Lee.
