HylaFAX+ 5.1.11 supports libtiff-3.9.  The patch to get it there is 
rather straight-forward.  See:

There is also libtiff-4.0 in alpha/beta phase right now, too, and that 
is as-yet untested by me, but it would require a similar change (at least).
