Well, you could try upgrading to HylaFAX+ 5.1.8, rerun faxsetup and 
faxaddmodem and see if that gets you anywhere.  It may.  But...

I found the Digi modems in Class 2.0 to be unreliable for my use... and 
they don't work at all in Class 1 by default.  As they're 
driver-compatible with the T1 version of the same hardware (Digi 
Datafire... sold to Patton and became the Patton 2977) I used the Patton 
2977 driver with fax-specific Class-1 firmware that they (Patton) 
provided me.

ATI0: Digi RAS modem 56000
ATI3: V20040915-K56_DS
ATI4: PATTON56K_RAS
ATI9: (1.00DBI0061\00000000\MODEM\\AccelePort RAS 4__)

Then it works reliably.
