I have a last question:
can I put JobRetry* values in a single configuration file,
such as hyla.conf or config under <hylafax-home>/var/spool/etc
rather than in each config.ttySx modem configuration file?

Remember that these JobRetry* values are limits that can be superceded 
by other limits.  For example, the default sendfax "maxdials" value (-T 
option) is 12... so if you're always using sendfax and never increasing 
maxdials beyond its default, then your JobRetryBusy limit will never be 
reached... because the maxdials limit will have been reached first.

I just tested JobRetryNoCarrier myself here with HylaFAX+ 5.1.4 and all 
works well.  I expect that it should work as documented with 4.3.1, as well.
