Sorry Aiden, i should have been clearer. Ubuntu standard packages:

hylafax-client               4.3.1-3 
hylafax-server             4.3.1-3

I have looked in the syslog and there are no entries from hylafax - I 
can see them SMTP details when hylafax sends the email, but that is 
logged from postfix.

However... there is a directory /var/log/hylafax but the logs in they 
don't really relate to anything from running the command (verified by 
timestamps etc.)

I have run :
/bin/sh -x bin/faxrcvd recvq/fax000000592.tif 123 123 123

and will send you the output if thats any help?
