Re: [hylafax-users] DID?

there's two ways to make DID, (direct inward dialing) work,
did is what the caller dials to call you,
1./ use a DID capable fax modem, ($500)
pros: easier to set-up
cons: looks like it takes all the wire for itself (must be fax
dedicated)
2./ use a pbx to convert DID into CallerID, and use a callerID
capable fax/modem
in this case
The other way this is commonly done is with a voice-capable modem (in
addition to fax) and then to program the PBX to signal the DID via DTMF
after the modem takes the line off-hook. HylaFAX instructs the modem to
listen for the DID via DTMF, and then when received, it answers with
normal fax tones. See the "SHIELDED_DTMF" stuff in 'man hylafax-config'.
