Re: [hylafax-users] Modem speed and Paper width

Darren,

That was it. I ran faxaddmodem and correct the error and just have to test it but it should work.

Did run into one small problem. The faxaddmodem worked on all of the ports except the first one. Did not identify it as the mainpine so it added a lot of other parms. For now I just copied the second port parms to the first port edited it for the phone number and ran a faxquit on that port. Any idea why that would happen?

Now I just need an answer to the page width issue.

Thanks much

John Warren

Have you possibly configured your modems for Class 1, instead of 1.0? You don't get V.34 with Class 1, only Class 1.0.

Subject: [hylafax-users] Modem speed and Paper width

I've got a couple questions about modem speed and page width based on the information below on faxes we've sent:

May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE best rate 33600 bit/s
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE max A4 page width (215 mm)
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE max unlimited page length
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE best vres 7.7 line/mm
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE format support: MH, MR, MMR, JBIG
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE supports T.30 Annex A, 256-byte ECM
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: REMOTE best 20 ms, 10 ms/scanline
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE 14400 bit/s
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE error correction mode
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: SEND file "docq/doc5627.pdf;f1"
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE A4 page width (215 mm)
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE unlimited page length
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE 7.7 line/mm
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE 2-D MMR
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: USE 0 ms/scanline
May 15 08:47:31.81: [17121]: SEND training at v.17 14400 bit/s

I often see best rates of 33.6Kbps but we always end up connection at 14.4Kbps even though I know the MainPine will do 33.6K. I know we have good lines plus I've even tried this locally and still can't get to  33.6K. Did I end up missing a parameter some place that controls this?

I also see hylafax using A4 page width even though we're sending US Letter PDF files. Again did I miss a parameter some place?

Thanks
