And here are some error rates from a fax broadcast system in the US in 2005
which compared a TR1034 (analog) with a RockForce OCTO+;

(1) Total Call Attempts
 
Mainpine - 134394
Brooktrout - 133854
 
(2) Total Fax's Sent Ok
 
Mainpine - 114390 (85.2%)
Brooktrout - 100856 (75.35%)
 
(3) Total Line Busy
 
Mainpine - 7951 (5.92%)
Brooktrout - 10100 (7.55%)
 
(4) Total No Answer
 
Mainpine - 11882 (8.84%)
Brooktrout - 20997 (15.69%)
 
(5) Total System Errors
 
Mainpine - 169 (0.13%)
Brooktrout - 361 (0.27%)
 
(6) Total Fax Errors
 
Mainpine - 2 (0.001%)
Brooktrout - 1540 (1.15%)

we're running a sending only environment on Eicon Diva. Usage: Media 
releases, mainly financial content, average 2 pages a destination. 
Target groups: media, banks...

I took some quick stats from the DB:

OUT, faxes:    17'226 (different destinations: 2'215)
SENT:          14'537
FAIL:           2'682

FAIL includes all possibilities of errors (as defined by you), incl. 
BUSY (retry: 7 times).
