All I'm getting are boxes where each of the bars should be. The height of the boxes seem to be about right.

In your /var/spool/hylafax/etc/config file change ServerTracing to be 0xFFF and then resubmit the fax with the embedded fonts. Then take a look in your syslog (/var/log/messages ?) and look for the pdf2fax invocation that was just used. Then cd to /var/spool/hylafax and re-run that same pdf2fax command by hand from there and see what the standard output may say.

If that doesn't say anything then do this:

gs -q -sDEVICE=tiffg3 -dNOPAUSE -dSAFER=true -dFIXEDMEDIA -sPAPERSIZE=letter -dBATCH -r200x200 -sOutputFile=out.tif <your_pdf_document>

And let's see what gs says on standard output.

In any case you'll probably want to bring up the matter to Ghostcript, and the first thing to do before going there would be to upgrade to the latest Ghostscript version available. Unfortunately, there really isn't a better alternative to Ghostscript, and so you really want to figure out what isn't right with it.

Lee.
