Re: [hylafax-users] Modem on USB to serial converter
Hi Aladar,
Please reply in list so that everyone can help you and
learn from your experience - thanks !
That's a great help.... few (if any)
'Win/Lin-modems" will work reliably for fax. get yourself a decent
hardware modem based on the Agere Venus chipset.

Hi
Aladar,
Get this working with Minicom first... then upgrade to
the latest version of HylaFAX and try again.

[hylafax-users] Modem on USB to serial
converter
Hi,
I run into a problem with one box running debian sarge, hylafax
4.2.1-5sarge3.
if i do lsub it can see the
USB to serial converter:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID
04b4:5500 Cypress Semiconductor Corp. HID->COM RS232
Adapter
the module for the kernel loaded, but
when i try to do a faxaddmodem ttyUSB0 it detects the speed to
be:
Probing for best speed to talk to modem:
38400 OK.
But than it sais it can communicate to
the modem like:
If you're unsure and your modem
supports it, use Class 1.
The result of the
AT+FCLASS=? command was:
QV1E1
OK
ĺLASS=?
0,1,8
OK
any ideas on how to set it
up correctly?
thank you,
aladar
