Re: [hylafax-users] Adaptive answer, MT5634ZBA-V92 (was Receive problems with MT2834ZDX modems)

Sam,

HylaFAX is a community effort and everyone 'here' will try to help you with your issues.  However, a resolution will depend on someone on the list having direct experience of your problem OR you working through the issue with the help of the card manufacturer and list members.  No one is obliged to resolve this problem for you and the critical tone of your email is very likely to 'turn off' the volunteers that you are asking for help.

Given that this is an important customer have you considered purchasing some time from one of the HylaFAX experts ?  I believe that Lee Howard, iFAX, and other list members offer such paid for consultancy and this would get you a dedicated resource to look at your problems.  Obviously, if MultiTech support are unable to help then maybe you are facing a fundamental issue with the card itself.... if this is the case how do you think that HylaFAX can solve your problems ?

The problem with a compatibility list is that no two members of the list will use the same criteria for 'compatibility'.  Indeed, if you were to ask for users experience of USR modems for example you would receive responses right across the spectrum from 'fantastic' to 'total disaster'.  Mainpine as a company has always invested considerable effort in 'compatibility' testing with the fax applications that we support which is unique in this industry;

Not only the modem-fax but the server machine and 3 days work...

From what you've shared on-list I cannot tell you what's wrong.  Figuring it out would be nearly impossible this way.  If I were to log in and do some hands-on work it would be a lot easier to get things resolved.  There are several others on these lists that can also offer you the same service.

I make lot and lot config test in Class 1, 2, 2.1 and each time with new problems, I'm not sure this is a good idea to put on the list all the hylafax, mgetty, logs files on my each config.ttyS.

Make a search on my name (przyswa) from the Hylafax Users list and you will find my previous posts about the AdaptiveAnswer problem with the MT2834ZDX-PCI-U modem.

I sent several mails to Multi-Tech support about this problem, I got no answer,

I found on Hylafax website the compatibility list:

Analog Fax Boards

  • Eicon Diva Server Analog
  • Mainpine Rockforce Duo+, Quatro+, Octo+
  • MultiTech MultimodemZPX
  • MultiTech MultimodemISI
  • Perle Systems PCI-RAS
So, let me know how the MultiTech MultimodemZPX is compatible with Hylafax server or perhaps in FAX ONLY but not in Adaptive-Answer mode (mixed data and fax call)

If Multi-Tech don't support his products and the developers of data-fax software why put the Multi-Tech products on the Hylafax compatibility list, I checked this list to make my modem-fax choice and when I ask for an alternate hardware a contributor on the list say "Zoom 3049" why this product is not on the compatibility list ?

We use Hylafax since six years with US-Robotic modems and Eicon Diva numeric card without any problems, if you want hylafax users use the Multi-Tech ZPX modem give us the right setup with AA mode and put it on Hylafax FAQ, THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Sam.
