[hylafax-users] USR 56K Modem

Good Morning everyone..

I will be building a Hylafax server with a digital card soon, but before ordering the card, since they are pretty expensive, I would like to test Hylafax on a standard analog modem for sending and receiving...

I only have 2 modems available here, and they are USRobotics 56K modems. (external)

For some reason, probemodem seems to work fine...but whenever I start faxgetty, it dies within a minute or two, saying..

Feb 9 11:09:11 localhost FaxGetty[7540]: OPEN /dev/ttyS0 HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.2.5
Feb 9 11:09:57 localhost FaxGetty[7540]: /dev/ttyS0: Can not initialize modem.
Feb 9 11:13:14 localhost FaxGetty[7540]: Unable to setup modem on /dev/ttyS0; giving up after 2 attempts
Feb 9 11:13:14 localhost FaxQueuer[7293]: MODEM /dev/ttyS0 appears to be wedged
Feb 9 11:13:14 localhost FaxQueuer[7293]: MODEM WEDGED: bin/wedged "ttyS0" "/dev/ttyS0"
Feb 9 11:13:14 localhost FaxGetty[7540]: CLOSE /dev/ttyS0
Feb 9 11:13:15 localhost FaxQueuer[7293]: NOTIFY exit status: 0 (7541)

I googled and it seems other people have reliability problems with USR, but that doesn't really bother me since I only need it for basic testing, I would just love to get it to work...

If anyone has used hylafax with the same modem, what firmware version did you have?
Can you send me your modem config file?

Thank you very much
